To The NEWLY Bereaved
When your child has died, suddenly it seems like you are all alone and no one understands what you are going through. Getting up in the morning, remembering things or performing simple tasks may be difficult. You may find yourself on an emotional roller coaster and wonder how you are going to survive. The most important thing we can say to you right now is YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

  • “ I had no idea how I would ever be able to survive and carry on some kind of normal life and care for my teenage daughter. It was such a comfort to walk into that first meeting and see all those people who had traveled this road, and somehow they were coping, and some were even smiling. And so began my journey out of the blackness and into the light, with people who understood and gave me the courage to live and even enjoy life again. ”

  • “ the first time I walked into a TCF meeting, I felt like I was wrapped up in a warm blanket. A blanket of love, support and understanding. Two years later the blanket is even warmer. ”

  • “ When I went to my first TCF meeting I was so nervous about having lost my daughter and talking about it. That nervousness went away the minute I walked in the door of a meeting. Whether you choose to speak or not, they understand what it is like to lose a loved one. You immediately feel like they will be like a close family and will support you in your time of grief. ”

  • "I didn't speak for the first YEAR I attending meetings. But at every meeting there was at least one person who said something that I totally related to, which made me fell like I wasn't crazy and more importantly not alone. Now, 10 years later, I hope that I can be that person who says that one thing that a newly bereaved person can grab on to, relate to and know they are not alone in their grief journey."
